Mesh removal after laparoscopy: is it still an option?

If your hernia was previously repaired using a laparoscopic (keyhole) technique, we understand you may now be considering mesh removal due to chronic pain, discomfort, or other complications.

However, BioHernia no longer performs mesh removal procedures following laparoscopic repairs. These specific cases are extremely complex and carry a higher risk of damaging internal structures like nerves, blood vessels, or even the intestines. In many instances, the mesh is deeply embedded or located behind the abdominal wall, making safe removal technically very challenging, even for experienced surgeons.

We’ve made this decision after carefully reviewing the outcomes, risks, and long-term safety of such procedures. Our focus remains on delivering safe, effective treatments with a high chance of success and minimal risk to your health.
